Are the allergens displayed on “SmileMenu” absolutely and guaranteed?
IT IS NOT ABSOLUTE AND NOT GUARANTEED. It is provided as REFERENCE information. SmileMenu is operated with the aim to create time for people with food allergies to feel at ease with their family and friends around the same table, and to enjoy a meal together with a smile. We, Food Allergy Association of Japan (FAJ), ask and help stores such as restaurants and delicatessen to disclose their food allergy related information so that the stores could materialize their good faith.
Since it is operated by people, it cannot be said that mistakes and misunderstandings do not occur at all. We cannot exclude the possibility of contamination at the factory or the during cooking at the store, depending on the food. As of January 2020, the number of cases disclosing allergy information is limited to a small number of stores, such as chain stores. We recognize this situation that it is difficult for people with food allergies to enjoy eating out or eating prepared food as if walking through a thick fog.
Users of “SmileMenu” should be aware that the information contains risks, and based on the view of their own symptoms and physical condition, and confirming the accuracy of the information by themselves and USING “SmileMenu” at your own risk. Based on that premise, we would like to create a bright and positive society in which each and every one of us will hold hands with everyone in the store who cooperates with food allergy information disclosure in good faith and regard each person as their own thing, and enjoy their(our) meal together.
Currently, the information is in Japanese and English, but are there any plans to support multiple languages?

For travelers and consumers who do not exclusively use Japanese in Japan, we start to disclose information of “SmileMenu” not only in Japanese but also in English.
